Joseph Samba Keifala went on to say that, the above project is in fulfilment of his promise to the people of Kenema during his campaign adding that the said project is exclusively funded by the own source revenue collected by the council and not any fund from the central government or any donor.

He said that the people of Kenema are sport loving people and therefore need a very decent and modern sport complex to give them the needed comfort.

He went further to say that the Pavilion would as have amongst other facilities a ten bedroom guest house which would be housing visitors in the sporting world for a very reasonable cost adding that the funds raised from the guest house would be used run the affairs of the field and sports in general.

“The initial timeframe for this project was 18 months but due to some unavoidable reasons, it has been extended to 24 months,” the Mayor added.

Speaking on the nature of the poor road network in the Kenema city which from all indications is the primary felt need of the people of Kenema, Joseph Samba Keifala told this medium that he had done all in his powers to win road projects for the Kenema city but all his efforts seem to be falling on deaf ears.

He furthered that he has a very good relationship with the central government and that the President is his good friend. He however went on to say that his council has plans to construct so cement roads within the city in a not too long distance future.

He highlighted the completion of the city clock tower and the securing of a vast land as cemetery for the people of Kenema as part of his recent achievements.

Sounding the opinions of the citizens of the Kenema City, it came out clear that the Kenema City is neglected interns of development simply because it is believed to be a very stronghold of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party and that the Mayor of the city had at many occasions humiliated his subjects that tend to lobby for development from the central government.

This allegation was however denied by the Mayor and even went on to say that, he would resign his position as Mayor of the city if and only if that would help develop the city.
