Fifty tons of assorted food items donated by the Government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is expected to land today Wednesday 5th May, 2021 at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi.

The donation which includes rice, cooking vegetable oil, flour among others, is a humanitarian assistance to Sierra Leone during the Holy month of Ramadan.

It departed Abu Dhabi, capital of the UAE, yesterday Tuesday 4th May via a special Etihad Cargo flight.

It is worth noting that the UAE has been a supportive partner to the Government and people of Sierra Leone, especially in the areas of education, healthcare delivery and agriculture.

Reacting to the gesture, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE, Rashid Sesay, thanked the UAE leadership for the goodwill and their continuous support to his country noting that that was a testament to the tremendous progress made over the years to strengthen the friendly relationship between Sierra Leone and the UAE.
