The National Fire Force materialized at the scene pretty late as the violent fire spread from one office to another uncontrollably. The first fire engine that was used to extinguish the fire was like adding fuel to a wild fire. At the end of the day, a total of six fire engines including that of the Sierra Leone Ports Authority’s, (SLPA) successfully battled out the fire.

Speaking to AYV, shortly after the fire was snuffed out, the Commander of the SLPA fire engine, John Conteh said that they had to compliment the efforts of the National Fire Force as according to him, it was a major fire incident. “It is a joint operation with the National Fire Force. It was not an easy battle but we thank God we have finally succeeded in extinguishing the fire. We are now doing cooling off,” he said proudly like one of the survivor soldiers of the First World War.

Also speaking to this press, the Legal Adviser and Corporate Secretary of the National Fire Force, Tamba Kelie expressed dismay over what he described as an “unfortunate incident,” Tamba Kelie however assured the public that the fire incident would not in any way affect the operations of the Authority. Investigations into the course of the fire, he said, are ongoing.

From what this press gathered, the fire chopped some thirty thousand United States Dollars at the Accountant’s office including other valuables and important documents.

Reliable sources have also intimated AYV that, for the past four years, the auditing of the entire National Power Authority, a parastatal under the Ministry of Energy is expected to commence today, 20th October 2014. Both the Permanent Secretary and the Accountant are said to be custodians of very sensitive documents that have been consumed in the inferno. Where are the documents to audit? The auditors are expected to ask. The documents have all become ashes.
