The accused, Idrissa Sesay is facing eleven count charges ranging from Causing Money to be paid to another person by means of fraud other than false pretences and Larceny contrary to Section 32 [1] of the Larceny Act of 1916 of the laws of Sierra Leone.
The charge sheet states that between the period of 2005 and 2011 and the accused, Idrissa Sesay received the sum of Eighty Three Million Leones from the complainant, Isata Massaquoi on the pretext of securing her two acres of land at Ogoo Fram, Goderich in the west of Freetown knowing to be fake.
The accused is also alleged to have caused the complainant to pay the sum of Twenty Million Leones to a surveyor to survey the land in question at Ogoo Farm in Goderich which she claimed to be her property, but knowing to be fake.
In her court evidence, the complainant, Isata Massaquoi disclosed that she recognized the accused person and recalled between 2005 and 2011, adding that on the above dates, the accused, Idrissa Sesay informed her that he has two acres of land at Ogoo Farm in Goderich for sale.
The witness told the court that she handed over Eight Three Million Leones to the accused in respect of the land, adding that the accused later hired some youths to brush the land without his knowledge.
She went on to state that she later realized that the accused had sold her land to a private individual, stating that, this prompted her to contact the accused about the new development surrounding her land, but to no avail.
Whe she could no longer trace the accused, she said, she reported the matter at the Adonkia Police Station, until he was tracked down, adding that the accused later made an undertaking to the police to refund the money by installment, but that he deliberately refused to do so.
The lead prosecuting team, SGT 5115 Pkundeh .M has informed the court that, they made several efforts and contacts to execute the Bench Warrant against the accused person and sureties, but that their whereabouts is still unknown.
