Under the theme “Better Future”, the event is organized by the Global System for Mobile Communication Association (GSMA), a global trade body that represents the interests of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) worldwide, comprising  approximately 800 MNOs and a further 300 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem as associate members.

The Mobile World Congress is a combination of the World’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry and a conference featuring prominent executives representing mobile operators, vendors, device manufacturers, technology providers and content owners from across the world.

In display are fascinating innovations ranging from Smartphone-driven car by the Chinese company HUAWEI, Samsung S9, 5G Connected Car, 5G video call, telemetry data delivery using SD-WAN to ensure fast data analysis and a variety of Virtual Reality (VR) technologies and Cloud Communication Platforms.

The Congress attracts over 100,000 visitors from Europe to America, Australia, Asia and Africa.

The GSMA dates back to 1987 with the signing of a MoU by 13 Operators in 12 countries that committed to deploying GSM for mobile communications. Full membership is open to all licensed mobile operators using GSM family technology; and Associate membership is open to non-operator companies active in the mobile ecosystems.

The 1987 MoU was a pan-European 900 MHz Digital Cellular Mobile Telecommunications Service document.
