Speaking to journalists at Law Court Building in Freetown, Madam Jeneba Kposowa narrated that in November 2017, the suspect trafficked her daughter, Edna Amie Vandy and her grandson, Michael Moseray to Italy.

She further said that her daughter and grandson together with the suspect Bobson Emmanuel Nylanderand seven other children left the shores of Sierra Leone for the West African state of Senegal.

According to Madam Jeneba Kposowa, her daughter telephoned to inform her that the suspect Bobson Emmanuel Nylander abandoned them in Senegal. The mother said she managed to contact the suspect via telephone demanding that he return her daughter and grandson back to her in Freetown.

She further explained that Bobson Emmanuel Nylander did nothing to bring back home her daughter and her grandson, but that he later approached her and promised to buy her a house in Freetown.

Madam Jeneba Kposowa informed African Young Voices that few days later, the suspect Bobson Emmanuel Nylander telephoned and informed her that her daughter and her grandson had died but that he could not account for the bodies.

As a result of this, she reported the matter at Kissy Police Division where the suspect was invited and detained but granted police bail with the help of his lawyer Musa Bayraytay.

She went on to state that following this development, a team of police personnel attached to the Kissy Police Division accompanied her to the suspect’s house, but he was nowhere to be found.

She added that the suspect later left the shores of Sierra Leone for Italy with nine Sierra Leoneans, and completely distanced himself from the parents and relatives of the migrants.

The suspect Bobson Emmanuel Nylander was however arrested at the Ross Road Court, after dodging several invitations from the police in respect of human trafficking allegations leveled against him.

He is expected to appear before Hannah Bonnie presiding over the Freetown Magistrate Court No.2 at Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown to answer to charges for the offense of alleged human trafficking.
