The accused person is a university student and was detained and charged to court for allegedly killing one Ibrahim Tarawalie at Fergusson Street in Freetown back in 2017.

When the matter came up for hearing on Monday 9 July 2018, the court could not proceed with the matter, due to the conspicuous absence of some jurors who are important at such proceedings in order to reach at a consensual verdict.

Lead Counsel for accused person Ernest Brewah Jr., Ishmael Philip Mammie however canvassed Judge, Hon. Justice Alusine Sesay for bail to be granted to the accused person on the grounds that, the accused person is a university student and that the university is about to conduct exams.

At this stage of proceedings, the presiding judge stated that the Under Sheriff is working round the clock to recruit more jurors with the objective of expediting cases assigned to his court for adjudication.

He made it clear that he would not grant bail to the accused person due to the seriousness of the offence and he was returned to the Correctional Center for safe custody.

The matter was adjourned to Monday 16 July 2018.
