Receiving the drugs at the Lumley Hospital on behalf of the government, the Medical Superintendent Dr. David Jalloh stated that the donation is timely because the hospital is desperately in need of such drugs as they had run out of stock.
He expressed his gratitude on behalf of the hospital and urged Save the Children to continue with such initiatives, adding that the Save the Children as the name implies, does not only save children but also saves adults.
The Commanding Officer of 34 Military Hospital, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Stephen Sevalie, who received the drugs on behalf of the 34 Military Hospital echoed similar sentiments. He assured the representatives from Save the Children that they would use the donated drugs and other items for the intended purpose.
The donation comprised of Infection Prevention and Control materials, syringes, Emergency Health kits for diarrhea prevention and treatment to anti-malarial modules for basic units, kits, and an anti-malarial module for the Supplementary Drugs unit.
Ramatu Jalloh, Save the Children’s Director of Communication, said collaboration with the Ministry of Health at the central, district and local levels is critical in ensuring that systems and resources are aligned for a robust response to any health or humanitarian crisis.
