John Sheaku Kamara of Concerned Teachers stated that the Union is always deducting money from their salaries without doing anything for them. “Even the scholarships that come for teachers they deviate to their relatives; and they are not doing anything to improve the welfare of teachers. For ten years now, no teacher has been approved and the SLTU is doing nothing about it.

“And so we want the ACC to investigate this SLTU executive. We have been in this for years, but because they have the money, they keep on bribing officials, but we believe in the current leadership of the ACC. We are also against the way the election is being done,” he added.

The teachers are now asking for one vote per person. “We are educated people and we are no longer ready to succumb to this human right abuse, because we pay money to the Union but the executive is lazy.
