He further said that the financial support for shipment of students’ personal effects after completion of their studies had also been delayed for at least two years, before President Bio’s administration provided the funds this year.

He added: “this issue had been delayed for two years and had been the source of much discontent and disquiet amongst the student body in China”

He expressed his appreciation to President Bio for making it possible for 144 that will now benefit from the stipends approved by this government worth over $1,000.

He commended the efforts of his colleagues in the government, especially those from the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education.

Ambassador Ndomahina disclosed that they have held meetings with the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education and the Chinese Ambassador in Freetown to avoid future misunderstanding and embarrassment.

Addressing the Ambassador, President Bio expressed his excitement that students are now going to be receiving stipends to support them in their studies. He added that the approval by his Government to provide financial support is in fulfillment of his commitment made during his visit to China in September 2018.

“I am always working to deliver on any promise I make for the growth and development of Sierra Leone,” he assured.

He encouraged Ambassador Ndomahina to continue his good work, and pointed out that the Ambassador should be engaging the Sierra Leone community in China regularly.
