The above statement is part of a release issued on Monday 14th January, 2019 by APPA at its headquarter office at 4 Pademba Road in Freetown during a press conference.

According to the release the APPA executive held their usual meeting to deliberate the above and other issues.

The meeting observed that in spite of the progress made thus far, APPA Council members observed that there is rising political tension and unease nationwide emanating from six main reasons including but not limited to increased level of distrust among political parties after the 2018 national census among other reasons.

In resolving these issues to ensure that the rule of law is observed and respected, APPA recommended among other things that the government begin effective and constructive engagement dialogue with all political parties especially the main opposition party – the All People’s Congress (APC) as a way forward to address concerns about political intimidation and electoral-related violence among several other recommendations.

Present at the press conference were representatives from various functional and non-functional political parties, including PMDC, UDM, RUFP, UP, NURP, NRP and PLP among others. However, the APC, SLPP were conspicuously not represented.

APPA Chairman Dr. Jonathan Sandy chaired the event alongside the APPA Deputy Chairman who doubles as Leader and Chairman of Unity Party, Femi Claudius-Cole. APPA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Alex MB Kaikai, journalists and other distinguished guests and party members witnessed the event.
