The clash in Kenema that  left two dead and several others injured is the latest in series of violent outbursts since the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) won a controversial election last year.

Leading opposition youth leader Alieu Manoh Sesay who was at the forefront of mobilising party supporters to defend the interest of the APC in that part of the country, is currently on the run.

The police and secret society members have launched a desperate manhunt to capture Alieu Sesay dead or alive.

Reports have it that five of Alieu’s friends and family members were violently attacked and dragged into a forest and forcefully initiated into the devilish poro society.

The Poro Society members have vowed to unleash more harm on innocent citizens in that part of the country in a desperate attempt to locate APC’s Alieu.

As a result of this occurrence, the central government has announced a nationwide ban on all secret society initiations.

That notwithstanding, perpetrators of such devilish acts continue to go scot-free as they belong to the ruling party.

Some family members of Alieu even feared that their relative is dead as these ruling party operatives appear so desperate to silence dissenting voices.

It remains unclear as to when total calm will return to that part of the country, but fact is that people like Alieu will face political persecution if he ever surfaces in the country under the current dispensation.
