She says the immediate solution for 2019, is that the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, Office of National Security, Sierra Leone Roads Authority, Ministry of Works and Public Assets, Sierra Leone Police and Lands Ministry are fixing hard improvement by fixing critical flash flood points and also rehabilitating infrastructures.

Mayor Aki Sawyer mentioned that they are also looking at the soft improvement by the increase of public awareness, engaging the community, strengthening the M & E of sanitation and the building regulations.

She pointed out that they had already identified about sixty two (62) flash points of which they are finding immediate remedy to those areas, emphasizing that they have plan to plant about sixty thousand(60,000) trees and grass to hold the soil.

Talking about the long term solution, the City Mayor outlined that they have plans in fixing up broken infrastructure, replace broken slabs, reconstructing dilapidated culverts and drainages with inadequate capacity.

Another presentation was done by the Director of Disaster at the Office of National Security, John Rogers which also can be harmonize with the Mayor’s presentation in forming out a good PLAN for the country.

Works and Public Assets Minister Peter Bayuku Konteh lauded the Mayor for the good Mitigation 2019 PLAN and stating that she is very patriot for the good intention of this nation.

He pointed out all other stakeholders are ready to fully cooperate towards this PLAN which will later forwarded to the Vice President.
