Climate Educate Africa Reforest GVWC Catchment

“We decided to engage these pupils from the Regent community to show them the impact of deforestation and how they could own the project for its sustainability. The planting of 500 trees at Matormeh today, was part of our commitment to reforest this area,” he said.

Ing. Tunkara said that there were a community engagement and sensitization of the project which has seen fruitful cooperation from them during the exercise.

Mr. Bai Bureh Conteh, from the Ministry of Agriculture, led the exercise to plant the various trees suitable for quick adaptation in that area. He encouraged the pupils to take the message of afforestation to their homes and be part of future projects that will be implemented by Climate Educate Africa.

Mr. Amara Bangura, representative of community leaders said that the planting of trees by Climate Educate will help to protect their source of water and prevent land grabbing. He expressed the community’s willingness to provide security and monitoring of the trees.
