The Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Hon. Dr. Mohamed JuldehJalloh has today Thursday 3rd June, 2021 officially turned sod for the construction of the North- West Regional Office of National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Lungi Road in Port Loko City.

Speaking at the turning of the sod, VP JuldehJalloh underscored the significance of the proposed new office of NASSIT there saying the sustenance of human capital development introduced by President Bio and bringing of hope to retire workers is NASSIT.

He said that President Bio’s government has added about ten thousand to NASSIT scheme contributions with the employment of public sector workers.

He further reiterated that all the workers in the North West will be happy for the proposed establishment of the office as it would help to save cost and time going to Freetown to access NASSIT services.

He said that the people of Port Loko are ready to provide security to the project and embrace any development which will improve their lives.

He further reiterated on the government offices established in the Port Loko City includes ACC, NRA, NCRA.

He said that President has promised in his last visit to make the new city equal in opportunities to the other three regional headquarters in the country.

VP JuldehJalloh registered commitment to supervise the project for successful completion of NASSIT Office.

NASSIT Director General, Mohamed FuadDaboh said that the proposed new office construction in Port Loko will be the most modern architectural infrastructure in the provinces.

He further spoke about the various reforms at NASSIT in a bid to help improving the lives of pensioners of the scheme.

As local content policy is part of the procedures and processes of NASSIT he said the scheme hired Leone Construction Company a local contractor after competitive bidding processed was followed.

The Chairman of the programme who doubles as Minister of Labour and Social Security, Lawyer Alpha Timbo the leadership of NASSIT headed by Mohamed FuadDaboh for continuing the vision of the trust by establishing offices in a bid to bring their services to the door step of the customers.

He said that NASSIT is underpinned with excellent and that the current management is exhibiting excellent in executing its core functions. BakehLoko Chiefdom Regent Chief, FodaySantigieKanu said that the people of Port Loko are very happy for NASSIT for the development brought there.

He said that NASSIT new office will add to the beauty of the city as he recounted on the suffering of the people there to access its services before the institution opened rented office there.

He further acknowledged the critical role played by both the North West Region Minister and the late Paramount Chief, PC AdikalieModuMela II to acquire the Land for the office after series of controversies.

Resident Minister, North West Region, HajaIsataAbdulai Kamara said that Port Loko is rising with influx of development projects under the New Direction government of President Julius Maada Bio.

She further acknowledged the contractor of the building construction project for employing the people of Port Loko so that they could be part of history making in the district.

She further called on NASSIT to bring in low cost housing facility to the people of city and the North West Region.

NASSIT DG handed the architectural infrastructure design document of the new proposed office in Port Loko City to VP JuldehJalloh.
