European Union program trains Sierra Leone Police on European Best Practices on Disinformation and Human Rights.

A training mission from the Police and Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, with support of the European Commission’s Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) instrument, has arrived in Sierra Leone.

The mission will share with the Sierra Leonean Police European best practices on responding to disinformation with a full Human Rights and Freedom of Speech approach.

The three days training workshop will take place from today 12th to 14th October, 2022 at the Sierra Leone Police Emergency Call Centre, Kingtom, in Freetown.

The aim of this training is to raise awareness of European best practices on recognising, monitoring, analysing and responding to disinformation with a full Human Rights perspective, in particular by guaranteeing Freedom of Speech.

The training workshop will support law enforcement officers in Sierra Leone in developing pro-active strategic communication.

The mission is organized in cooperation with the West African Response on Cybersecurity and Fight against Cybercrime (OCWAR-C) project, financed by the European Union and implemented under a Financing Agreement between the EU and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
