As a demonstration of their commitment and determination to the campaign against corruption, the Sierra Leone Police Wives Association (PWA) has dialogued with the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Francis Ben Kaifala Esq and other Directors of the Commission. The meeting took place in the ACC’s Conference Room, 3 Gloucester Street, Freetown.

Speaking to a cross section of the Executive Members of the Police Wives Association, the ACC boss said, it was a unique engagement and a spectacular move by the SLP wives to express commitment to the fight against corruption.

Commissioner Kaifala underscored the strength of the wives, as that will change situations for the better. He furthered that, when a wife communicates to the husband very well, the husband will listen and will be convinced. He entreated the SLP wives to continue engaging their husbands on the dangers of corruption and the benefits of a corrupt free society. Mr. Kaifala assured them of ACC’s cooperation at all times, and encouraged them to create a platform whereby the ACC will convey anti-corruption messages to their membership.

President of the SLP Wives Association Doris Sellu said, the membership was pleased to engage with the Commissioner and the Commission. She disclosed that the Association has on-going plans to undertake community programmes in the different Police barracks which the ACC will leverage on to convey its messages.

Collaboration, Partnership and Coalition building are critical to the fight against corruption for which reason the ACC has forged partnerships with over 50 organizations and signed Memoranda of Understanding with 27 good governance, media, and civil society organizations. The Police Wives Association is the most recent in a series of alliances formed by the ACC in the anti-graft crusade.
