Presenting the items to the institutions, executive director of the foundation, Umu Katume Sall, said they were committed to promoting equality and also helping create awareness between and among children about their potentials.
She said the group was formed in 2014 to help those in dire need and they started it by forming a WhatsApp, adding that they had had some obstacles on the way because they were all students without any major sponsor.
“However, that didn’t stop us to actualize our dreams of helping the needy. We have been able to buy the items from money we contributed. We will continue to do our best to ensure that some of the needs of the less privileged are met”, she promised.
She said that just a start and that they would continue to do more as soon as they were able to establish and have sponsors.
“I know it is not easy for you people, but I want you all to continue the good work,” she encouraged the teachers and caregivers.
While receiving the items principle of Blind School, Salieu Turay, thanked members of CAF for the gesture, adding that it was so kind of them to come together to help children, especially those without external help.
He continued that the blind school was a boarding home and whatever gift given to the children would be very helpful because they were in need of everything.
The principle also encouraged other young people to copy from what the foundation had done, adding that people should not only give when they had abundantly.
He admonished members of CAF to continue their good work and encouraged others to follow the footstep of CAF. He also said that with such gesture God would bless and provide support for them to continue to help those in need.
In his statement, Mohammed Mansaray, who received the items on behalf of the Founder of Christian Faith Orphanage Home, also expressed thanks and appreciation to members of CAF for remembering the orphan children in their home. He said he was also raised up as an orphan and because of that he knew what that meant.
“It is not easy to grow up in this country as an orphan”, he said, and promised CAF members that the items donated would be used accordingly and that every child in the home would benefit from them. He also promised to update the owner of the home about the donation made by CAF.
“I pray God will bless and provide for you all for taking up such a venture,” he said.
Among the items presented were used clothes, soap, biscuits, pens, milk, bags, water etc.
