A student from the Milton Margai Technical University has built an electrical four-wheel minibus.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Philip John Kanu, applauded the young inventor for his work, he furthered that as an institution they were looking at how they could improve on the skills and ideas of the young man that could be very useful and beneficial to the entire nation.

He said the primary objective of His Excellency the President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for transforming the intuition into a Technical University was to improve on the technical skills of students and address the middle-level manpower in the country so the youth could be useful.

Prof. Kanu thanked the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and the Ministry of Basic Senior Secondary School for creating that connection between the lad innovator and the institution, affirming that, the university would offer him a space to further his studies in B. Tech to improve on his brilliant ideas.

Acting Dean of Campus, Rev. Ing. Rodney Jenner Lewis, commended the institution for such a move adding that, the reason for a technical university was to improve the skills of individuals with potential and brilliant ideas, and as a university, they were going to do everything in their power to refine the ideas and skills of the young innovator, he ended.

Ing Lamin Kamara who had won many international accolades is a consultant and expert in Hybrid and Auto Mobile, he is presently working with the University, Ing Kamara assured the Vice Chancellor of helping to improve the mechanical aspect of the electrical four-wheel mini bus prototype already developed by the young man, in the area of molding, speed control, and limit, its weight and balance and many more to meet international standard.

Ing. Harold Kallon, Head of Department, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Ing. Francis Vandy, Dean of Engineering Faculty both commended the brilliant young man for taking such a bold step to showcase his idea, adding that they would focus on its key performance indicators, KPI is used in many areas of the engineering industry to monitor the efficiency of projects, the molding of the minibus, the aerodynamic which is designed to reduce or minimise the drag caused by air as a vehicle moves through it or by the wind that strikes and flows around a vehicle, they are also going to work on reducing the body resistance and many more to improve on the prototype.

The innovator, James Samba registered his deep gratitude to the institution for according him such an opportunity, as a non-professional, he promised to take the opportunity seriously to improve his skill and potential.

The occasion climaxed, with a test drive by the Vice Chancellor around the campus.
