The Class of 2008 Alumni of Prince of Wales Secondary School Kingtom has donated school furniture to the school to create conducive environment for learning.

Richard Moore Conteh the Senior Prefect of the class said, while presenting the furniture, that the old students donated forty (40) set of school tables and chairs worth over Twenty-Five Million Leones (Old Leones) Le25,000.000.00 to the school.

Mr. Conteh said that it was important for every pupil to have their individual table and chair to ensure effective learning.

We left this institution in 2008 as a set, we have witnessed lot of items and facilities donated to the school such as computer, printer, among others.

“We chose to donate school furniture this time, because the school has moved to one shift system which means more classroom and furniture should be able available to make sure the learning environment accommodate the number of pupils in the system.

“My set decided to provide school furniture because this school made us to be whom we are today; it imparted knowledge on us and laid the foundation for our future,” he said.

Mr. Conteh said that part of the reasons for the set’s effort was to put some burdens off the shoulders of the school administration and proactive steps toward upgrading the school sitting accommodation/facilities.

“The standard of education has really dropped compared to what it was some years ago, public schools are now being neglected, most parents now send their children to private schools,” Sununu Bailor Barrie the Chairman of class of 2008 stated.

He further said, this is genesis of their intervention as the class intends to do more and he will continue to lobby his colleagues/peers even though things are difficult/hard.

In his reactions, George Abiodun Lefevre, the Principal of Prince of Wales Senior Secondary School and also ex pupil of the school, described the donation as a blessing to the school at the moment. The Government is doing so much, but they cannot do everything alone. This is the reason the Alumni and other stakeholders need to support the system,” he said.

The school Head-Boy, Reuben Bidwell, appreciated the old students for the donation.

“You came at the right time, this gesture to some extend will bring sharing of tables and chairs to an end,” Reuben Bidwell said.

He called on other stakeholders and friends of the school to support it to ensure that a conducive learning environment is created for the students.
