The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has approved multiple projects in the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2023, with a focus on various sectors such as critical infrastructure, health, food security, energy, and small business support.
In the third quarter of Fiscal Year 2023, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) approved 27 new projects at the Board and Corporation levels totaling more than $3 billion.
One notable project is a $150 million loan to Summa Airports (SL) Limited for the expansion, renovation, and operation of the Freetown International Airport in Sierra Leone. This investment aims to improve transportation infrastructure in West Africa.
Other approved transactions include investments in revitalizing transportation and energy infrastructure in Southern Europe, expanding clean energy supply in Ecuador, supporting climate change initiatives in El Salvador, increasing production of critical helium resources in South Africa, and providing earthquake relief and support to small businesses in Türkiye.
Additionally, DFC has approved investments at the Corporation level, including boosting infrastructure across Africa, supporting healthcare and financial inclusion across multiple regions, bolstering food security in Kenya, expanding access to solar energy in India, and supporting small business innovation in Ukraine and Moldova.
The approved projects reflect DFC’s efforts to promote economic development, support small businesses, and address various challenges in different regions around the world.
