Before presenting the cheque, the Agriculture Minister said his good relationship with the Youth Council started soon after he assumed office, and added that he was very impressed with the proposal forwarded by the Council to embark of massive agriculture production in the thirteen agricultural districts of the country. Professor Monty Jones said it is good to see that the Youth are ready to invest in various crops in the agricultural value chain. “You have demonstrated the fact that the youth are willing to come back to agriculture. You are responsible people that want to go into full scale employment, which is one of the dreams of President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma,” he said, and assured that the Ministry is more than willing to provide all the required supports, including logistical, financial and moral so as to enable the youth revolutionize agriculture.

Professor Jones encouraged the Youth Council to take the lead in making the country become prosperous. “I hope other government Ministries, Departments and Agencies will provide similar supports,” he said.

The Youth Affairs Minister, Bai Mamoud Bangura thanked the Agriculture Minister whom he referred to as his mentor for being a selfless man that is passionate about youth development in the country. “I am convinced that with Professor Monty Jones as Minister of Agriculture, the youth are assured of greater transformation. He assured that the funds provided will be utilized for its intended purpose. 

The Head of National Youth Council, Ibrahim Prince Tholley said “I feel challenged as Chairman to have received such support from the Ministry of Agriculture; we will never let you down.”

Tholley said there are lots of opportunities out there for young people but that they rely on leaders in society to help them to produce the required light needed in national development. 

The Youth Council Chairman was accompanied by his executive and few Youth Leaders to receive the cash support from the Ministry of Agriculture.
