Fire destroys East-End Paddies

According to Mohamed Kamara alias Med Kay, former Sierra Leone People’s Party SLPP, Freetown-East chairman and proprietor of East-End Paddie’s established that he had engaged his constituents on voter’s registration sensitization during the previous Saturday’s, as he stressed that he received a distraught called at around 3:30am, the early hours of the previous Sunday, from one of his staff, who informed him that his entertainment spot was on fire.

Med Kay ascertained that although he arrived at the scene, but unfortunately he witnessed his enormous investment burnt to vestiges, a situation he said that his life was fallen apart, at that particular moment.

When he asked about the reason for the fire,  “all I could get as response, were stories of an alleged black jeep with people posed to be customers, but they scuttled immediately when the  fire began and also some other people are saying that they did not know the actual cause of the fire” Med Kay responded.

A neighbour at East-End Paddie’s, Marian Koroma explained that she was sleeping when she heard a loud voice shouting fire! and she automatically came out with her family, for preventive measures. The fire incident destroyed lots of properties, especially those that are bordered with the affected fence, Koroma stated.  

Charles Gbakalie, who shared the same building with the entertainment centre, said he was listening to radio news when he heard about the sudden fire, he said he did not know the actual source of the fire. 

The owner of the entertainment spot, Med Kay submitted that the matter was currently in the hands of the Sierra Leone Police, as investigations disclosed that a little over 2 months ago, fire incidence occurred at his residence.

The Sierra Leone Police that were present at the scene refused to comment on the issue, as they said the matter happened to be under thorough police investigations.

However, many people around the vicinity are going with phenomenon that the incident must have had a political flavour, owing to the fact that the East-End Paddie’s proprietor recently defected to the ruling APC party after being in the SLPP over the years.
