Club foot happened to be a congenital condition, where in a child’s feet are turned inwards, and its medical deformity mostly and widely associated with witchcraft.

There are steps involved in straightening a child’s foot or feet from Club foot, as some children only have a foot affected which includes, casting and bracing.

In observance of the day, the  Program Coordinator of the Sierra Leone Club foot, Siaffa Bindi Gave  an overview of the  project in which he highlighted the importance of why the day was specifically set aside  as world club foot day and, it was in recognition of  the birthday of the discoverer of the current treatment known as Posenti.

He encouraged parents not to get frustrated over club foot conditions of their children, and urged them to visit different centres for treatment.

The Clinic Coordinator at the National Rehabilitation Centre, Nathaniel Kargbo said over 200,000 kids in the world over were  born with a clubfoot disorder, but said that with the treatment involving casting and bracing, many had successfully been cured.

This year’s commemoration of the World Clubfoot day saw the awarding of certificates to parents whose children had successfully gone through the treatment, and had recovered, with some of them sharing their experiences.

The ceremony was climaxed with parents and their children who had been cured of the ailment of club foot, as they were dancing and celebrating.
