Therefore in keeping with this tradition, the leading telecommunications company in Sierra Leone, Africell, has recently hosted Iftar with Muslims observing the holy month of Ramadan in Kono and Kabala, Eastern and Northern Sierra Leone respectively.

In Kono, the event took place at the prestigious Average Reception hall in Koidu city, where over 700 people were treated to a delicious and well prepared meal by residents of Kono.

Most of the Muslims hosted at the Iftar, said, they enjoyed the meal and were appreciative of the gesture by Africell.

In Kabala, the Iftar was hosted at the Kabala Central mosque at the heart of the township.

Speaking during the town Chief Kondeh Conteh was full of praises for Africell. He said, “We are appreciative of this gesture. It shows we are valued by Africell. Our appeal however, is that this event becomes and annual emulation during the holy month of Ramadan.”

Addressing the congregation of worshippers prior to the Iftar, deputy chief Imam of the Kabala central mosque, Alhaji Osman Kamara said, “Sharing during the month of Ramadan, is considered a blessing, therefore Africell will receive the blessings of Ramadan during this holy month.”

Subscribers in both towns expressed similar views with regards hosting of the Iftar, requesting it be transformed to an annual event.
