At Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh: Dr Yumkella to moderate main ministerial roundtable

The Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy and Food Security of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Hon. Dr Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella is in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to moderate the Ministerial roundtable meeting of the fourth Future Minerals Forum (FMF) on Tuesday, 14 January 2025.

Dr Yumkella who arrived in Riyadh, on Monday, 13th January told this writer that he was invited by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources to oversee and guide the three-hour discussion of the main ministerial FMF roundtable conference.

He said the roundtable will focus on creating a framework for responsible mining, establishing seven centres of excellence for capacity building, and developing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards and protocols for the mining sector.

As the second person to be invited as moderator of the FMF in Riyadh, Dr Yumkella’s expertise will be invaluable in shaping the future of minerals globally.

The three-day event, themed “Year of Impact,” aims to reinforce the FMF’s global status as a premier platform for fostering collaboration and investment in the minerals sector.

Dr. Yumkella was received by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Ambassador Mohammed S. Barrie, and cross section of embassy staff.
