The All ‘Works’ of Life (AWOL) development organization has announced the appointment of Ahmed Sahid Nasralla (De Monk) as the new Chairman of AWOL Sierra Leone.

Nasralla said: “I thank the AWOL global family, especially the outgoing Chairman, Amb. Navo, for the confidence reposed in me. I promise to do my best, as I have always done as Secretary General over the years, to elevate AWOL to new heights. The philosophy of AWOL—‘Giving Back’ and ‘Put Salone Fos’—has always been my mantra, and I remain committed to the ideals of our esteemed organization”.

Nasralla succeeds Amb. Anthony Navo Jnr., AWOL’s longest-serving Chairman, who now assumes the esteemed role of Godfather/Global Chairman, overseeing and supporting all AWOL Chapters worldwide.

Nasralla, the longest-serving Secretary General of AWOL, has been part of the organization’s leadership since its inception in 2002. A journalist with over 20 years of distinguished practice and experience, Nasralla has managed several media houses and mentored numerous young journalists who are now making significant contributions to Sierra Leone’s media landscape.

In addition to his role in AWOL, Nasralla has served as Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) from 2016 to 2019, before being overwhelmingly elected President of SLAJ, a position he holds to date. He also serves as Chairman of the National Political Debates Committee (NPDC) and is the Publisher of Sierra Leone’s only satirical newspaper, Ticha Lemp Lemp.

About AWOL

AWOL is a nonpolitical development organization founded in 2002 by a group of young Sierra Leoneans committed to the principles of charity, patriotism, and community development. Officially launched by the late President Dr. Ahmed Tejan Kabbah, AWOL was conceived as a self-help initiative to inspire young Sierra Leoneans to contribute to nation-building.

AWOL’s mission is to give back to society and complement the efforts of the government in fostering national development. Since its inception, AWOL has been organizing the prestigious National Achievement Awards to honor Sierra Leoneans for outstanding contributions in their respective sectors. The organization also runs the annual June 16 School Feeding and Awards program, which aims to inspire future generations of leaders.

With Chapters in the US, UK, Continental Europe, Australia, and The Gambia, AWOL provides platforms for Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora to contribute to development efforts back home.
