 AYV News, June 3, 2025

The Executive of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has postponed its Elective Congress, earlier scheduled for 6th to 7th June 2025, now slated for 13th and 14th June 2025 at the same venue and time.

Chief Journalist of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists, Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, said the decision has been necessitated by the expectation that Friday, 6th June 2025, is Dunkay Sally Pray Day, and will be declared a public holiday.

The Executive, in consultation with the SLAJ Electoral Commission (SLAJEC), has agreed to this change to ensure the smooth and inclusive conduct of the Congress.

Ahmed Sahid Nasralla said: “We wish to emphasise that this change of date does not reopen the window for payment of dues or registration of new voters about voting in the upcoming elections. All eligibility requirements and deadlines previously announced by the Executive and SLAJEC remain in effect.”

However, SLAJEC will, in due course, issue an updated timetable to reflect adjustments necessitated by the new Congress dates.

The Association regrets any inconvenience this change may cause.
