On Thursday, June 26, 2025, His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio returned home with laurels and a great achievement for himself and Sierra Leone, receiving a red-carpet welcome as the new Chairperson of ECOWAS. Despite some misconceptions about the significance of this achievement, this article of the “Goodies of the Bio Presidency” aims to highlight President Bio’s leadership role in ECOWAS has laid a solid foundation for Sierra Leone’s brighter future.

During his first meeting in Brussels as Chairperson of ECOWAS with the European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, His Excellency Jacek Jankowski, the latter posted on his Facebook page: “It was a great honour to host H.E President Julius Maada Bio in Brussels in his capacity as President of Sierra Leone and Chairperson of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State.
