The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah today received a courtesy visit from the newly elected executive of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ).
Led by former President Ahmed Sahid Nasralla and the newly elected President, Alhaji Manika Kamara, the SLAJ team used the occasion to introduce the new leadership, present a position paper advocating for the inclusion of a dedicated Chapter 12 in the Constitution to guarantee press freedom, and to formally commend the Ministry for its efforts in advancing media freedom and civic participation.
The Association presented awards and commendations to the Honourable Minister, Chernor Bah, and to the Ministry, in recognition of promoting a free and democratic society.
Minister Bah congratulated the incoming executive, thanked the outgoing leadership for their service, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s continued commitment to working with SLAJ and all media stakeholders to safeguard press freedom, uphold responsible journalism, and strengthen democratic governance in Sierra Leone.
