In a significant step towards resolving a long-standing infrastructure issue, the administration of Fourah Bay College (FBC) engaged the Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) regarding the deteriorating state of the main FBC road.

The FBC delegation, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Baio and including Deputy Registrar Mr. Ibrahim Abu Conteh and Director of Communication Dr. Tonya Musa, met with SLRA Director-General Ing. Alfred Jalil Momodu at his office.

Director of Communication and International Relations, Dr. Tonya Musa, said during the meeting, Professor Baio highlighted the dangerous state of the road, labeling it a “death trap” that demands immediate attention. He formally appealed for sustainable maintenance to be completed before the college’s Bicentenary celebrations.

Ing. Momodu assured the FBC team of the Authority’s commitment. He announced immediate plans to fill the existing potholes before the December 2025 congregation ceremony. Furthermore, he presented a comprehensive plan for the road’s long-term improvement, which involves full paving and the installation of functional drainages.

The productive engagement concluded with both institutions charting a strategic path and defining clear roles and responsibilities to ensure the project’s success. The FBC delegation departed, grateful for the SLRA’s positive reception and firm commitment.
