Sierra Leone’s Minister of Transport and Aviation, Amb. Alhaji Fanday Turay Esq. has revealed that there has been a significant increase in passenger traffic at Freetown International Airport in 2025, which is a clear signal of growing confidence in the country’s aviation sector and overall economy.
Minister Turay said, “Passenger traffic at FNA rose by 18,323 in 2025 compared to 2024, with increased arrivals and departures. This growth reflects strengthened aviation capacity, higher flight frequencies, improved connectivity, and growing confidence in Sierra Leone”.

He said higher arrivals and departures reflect improved connectivity, increased flight frequency, and strengthened transport infrastructure, making Sierra Leone more accessible to investors, tourists, and the diaspora.
The minister said this growth is more than statistics, adding that it represents progress, trust, and opportunity. “A busier airport means stronger trade, expanded tourism, job creation, and deeper regional and global integration. Simply put, when aviation grows, the nation moves forward”. Minister Turay said.
