The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sierra Leone hosted a high-level symposium and reception in Freetown to commemorate Sierra Leone’s Independence Day while promoting youth engagement and diplomacy.
The event brought together young diplomats, government officials, and stakeholders, creating a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and cultural exchange.
Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhao Yong, warmly received the Minister of Youth Affairs, Min. Ibrahim Sannoh, along with other distinguished guests and young participants.
In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the enduring and mutually beneficial relationship between China and Sierra Leone, reaffirming China’s commitment to supporting youth empowerment and national development initiatives.
“Sierra Leone and China enjoy a strong and enduring partnership built on mutual respect and shared development goals. We remain committed to deepening this cooperation, particularly in empowering young people who are central to the future of our nations.” Ambassador Yong stated
Minister Ibrahim Sannoh expressed appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for its continued support to Sierra Leone, particularly in areas that impact young people. He emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation to expand opportunities for youth empowerment, skills development, and innovation.
“We sincerely appreciate the consistent support from the People’s Republic of China to Sierra Leone. We look forward to further strengthening this partnership to create more opportunities that will empower our youth and accelerate national development.” He ended.
The event concluded on a high note, reaffirming the shared commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation and invest in the potential of young people.
