Vice President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed JuldehJalloh has chaired a high-level meeting with the United Kingdom’s High Commissioner and her technical team to discuss the evolving partnership between Sierra Leone and the UK, with a renewed focus on trade, investment, expertise sharing, and mutually respectful cooperation.
The discussions highlighted a growing shift in bilateral relations away from traditional aid dependency toward stronger private sector engagement and enhanced multilateral collaboration between the two countries.
According to the Vice President, the new approach is aimed at deepening economic ties, promoting investment opportunities, and creating sustainable partnerships capable of driving long-term national development.
Over the past 18 months, his Office has engaged British International Investment (BII), co-hosted the UK–Sierra Leone Investment Summit, and facilitated cultural exchange opportunities for Sierra Leonean creatives.
Later this month, the country’s Chief Minister, Dr David Moinina Sengeh, will host a townhall in Leicester, UK, bringing together public and private sector stakeholders, Sierra Leone’s professionals and members of the diaspora community to strengthen collaboration and explore development opportunities for Sierra Leone. He further disclosed plans for an upcoming Townhall meeting scheduled to take place later this month in Leicester, United Kingdom. The event is expected to bring together public and private sector actors, Sierra Leonean professionals, members of the diaspora community, and potential investors to discuss opportunities for national development and collaboration.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Government of Sierra Leone to strengthen international partnerships, attract foreign investment, and position the country as a destination for business, innovation, and cultural exchange.
