Sierra Leone’s Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Mohamed Rahman Swaray, has arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the 114th Session of the International Labour Organization International Labour Conference.
The conference, which brings together government representatives, employers, workers’ organizations, and labour experts from across the world, serves as a key platform for discussing global employment trends, workers’ rights, social protection systems, and labour market development.
During the conference, Minister Swaray is expected to hold a series of high-level engagements, including discussions with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization and other prominent stakeholders in the global labour sector. The meetings will focus on strengthening international cooperation and exploring strategies to address emerging challenges in the world of work.
Upon his arrival at Geneva International Airport, the Minister was received by Sierra Leone’s Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Samuel U.B. Saffa, together with members of the Sierra Leone Mission in Geneva.
The participation of Sierra Leone in the conference underscores the government’s commitment to advancing employment opportunities, promoting decent work, enhancing social protection programmes, and safeguarding workers’ rights in line with international labour standards.
Officials say the conference offers an important opportunity for Sierra Leone to share experiences, learn from global best practices, and contribute to international discussions aimed at creating inclusive and sustainable labour markets.
The 114th International Labour Conference is expected to feature deliberations on a range of pressing labour and employment issues affecting countries around the world, while strengthening collaboration among member states and international partners.
