The Ministry of Youth Affairs, through the Productive Social Safety Net and Youth q Project (PSSNYE), has intensified efforts towards creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people with the introduction and demonstration of the Youth Employment Portal.
The portal, which is designed to bridge the gap between young job seekers and employers, is expected to serve as a transformative digital platform that connects youth with employment opportunities, skills development programmes, and private sector employers.
Speaking at the engagement, the Minister of Youth Affairs, Hon. Ibrahim Sannoh, highlighted the strategic importance of the Youth Employment Portal in addressing youth unemployment and enhancing access to decent work opportunities. He noted that the platform represents a significant step towards building a more inclusive and responsive youth employment ecosystem.
The Minister emphasized that the portal will provide young people with improved access to job opportunities while enabling employers to identify and recruit skilled talents more efficiently. He further stated that the initiative aligns with Government’s commitment to empowering young people through innovation, technology, and sustainable job creation.
The meeting also featured remarks from the Director of NGO Affairs at MoPED, Mr. Eric Masallay, who underscored the importance of partnerships and coordinated efforts in ensuring the success of youth-focused employment interventions.
The PSSYNE Project Coordinator, Mr. Michael Nallo, provided an overview of the project and highlighted the role of the Youth Employment Portal as a critical tool for enhancing employment linkages and supporting young Sierra Leoneans in their journey towards economic independence.
The engagement concluded with a demonstration of the employer features of the portal, showcasing its potential to revolutionise the way employers connect with qualified young professionals across Sierra Leone.
