All Progressives Congress (APC) Falaba District Chairmanship aspirant Lahai Koroma has challenged the postponement of the party’s district chairmanship election and rejected plans to relocate the poll from Falaba to Makeni.
The election, which was scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, was delayed, after which the party’s Internal Election Management Committee (IEMC) announced that the process would instead be conducted in Makeni.
Koroma has questioned the decision, arguing that Falaba has established district party structures, accredited delegates and registered party members who should be able to participate in the election within the district.
He called on the APC leadership and the IEMC to urgently resolve the issue and ensure that the election is conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and established electoral procedures.
Koroma also demanded a clear public explanation for both the postponement of the election and the proposed change of venue.
According to the aspirant, conducting the election in Falaba would allow accredited delegates and party members to participate within the district whose leadership is being contested.
The dispute comes as the APC continues preparations for its district-level internal elections, with the conduct and location of the Falaba election now attracting attention among party members.
Koroma urged the party’s leadership to engage relevant stakeholders and address the concerns surrounding the election before proceeding with the poll.
At the time of publication, the IEMC and other APC authorities had not publicly responded to Koroma’s concerns or provided further details on the reasons for the postponement and proposed relocation to Makeni.
