Martina Baindu Egbenda has been elected President of the Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA), emerging unopposed at the Association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Egbenda was subsequently sworn into office, formally assuming leadership of the professional body responsible for representing the interests of legal practitioners in Sierra Leone.
Following her election, the new president announced the composition of her executive team, which is expected to work alongside her in overseeing the affairs of the Association and advancing its objectives.
The election marks the beginning of Egbenda’s tenure at the helm of the SLBA, with her executive team expected to support the Association’s leadership and administrative responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the newly elected executive moved a motion for the remaining items on the AGM agenda to be deferred to another Annual General Meeting.
The motion means that the outstanding matters will be considered at a subsequent meeting, with the date for the next AGM expected to be announced by the executive in due course.
Further details regarding the executive team’s priorities and the outstanding agenda items are expected as the Association proceeds with its activities under the new leadership.
