The donated items include cartoons and bags of used clothing, sleepers for men, women and children, babies’ food, sanitary pads, baby dippers and school materials worth thousands of United States dollars.

Handing over the donation to the management of the camp, Reverend Tommy Bangura said the outcome of the August 14 mudslide and floods came as a shock to the Mission, particularly the number of lives lost and value of property destroyed.

He said it is against this backdrop that the Assemblies of God Mission was pioneered to support the victims with some of their much needed items, adding that the donation demonstrates their sympathy and empathy for families that lost their loved ones and the survivors. He assured the recipients that the Mission continues to remember them in their prayers and encouraged them all to be steadfast in prayers and all they do in their life after camp.

Receiving the items on behalf of the camp, representative of the Office of National Security (ONS) Madam Philomena Turay thanked Assemblies of God Mission both in the USA and Sierra Leone for thinking of the victims and survivors especially at a time when in her own words, “many people seemed to have forgotten them”.

Madam Turay further maintained that ONS would take custody of the items and evenly distribute them to the survivors, which she promised would be utilized by the targeted beneficiaries accordingly.
