The Anti-Corruption Commission and the Sierra Leone Immigration Department have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening integrity, transparency, and accountability in immigration service delivery across Sierra Leone.
The agreement was formalized at Integrity House in Tower Hill, Freetown, marking a significant step in deepening collaboration between the two institutions in the fight against corruption.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, ACC Deputy Commissioner Augustine Foday-Ngobie underscored the importance of building systems that prioritize integrity.
“We are committed to building institutions where integrity is embedded, not enforced as an afterthought,” he said.
According to officials, the partnership comes at a critical time as both institutions seek to address corruption risks within immigration processes, particularly at key national entry and exit points.
The MoU outlines a framework for enhanced cooperation in areas such as intelligence sharing, preventive interventions, capacity building, and sustained public education. These measures are expected to strengthen institutional safeguards, promote ethical conduct, and improve public trust in immigration services.
Authorities say the collaboration will also focus on identifying and addressing systemic vulnerabilities, while ensuring that immigration services are delivered in a fair, efficient, and transparent manner.
The initiative reflects a broader commitment by both the ACC and the Immigration Department to uphold zero tolerance for corruption and to protect Sierra Leone’s national image.
Observers note that strengthened coordination between oversight and service delivery institutions is critical in reinforcing good governance and ensuring accountability across public sector operations.
