The Anti-Corruption Commission has provided an update on the seizure of gifted cars intended for Andrew Jaiah Kaikai, previously holding the position of Chief Immigration Officer.

Kaikai now serves as the Executive Director of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency.

The seized vehicles include a G-Wagon Mercedes Benz, Toyota Landcruiser, and Toyota Fortuner, reportedly received as gifts from a friend, as per Kaikai’s disclosure.

Sylvanus Blake from the ACC said the commission is still working on the issue and that they are always concern on going after anyone who goes contrary to the laws. He said the issue started by Kaikai himself declaring that he has three vehicles given to him as gifts.

There is Section 47 which states that, you should not receive gifts for corrupt purposes.” He stated adding that the person has to be the one to fully explain the nature of the wealth as position of unexplained wealth and corrupt accusation of wealth are all offences he pointed out.

Blake said, the complete explanation of the gifts might only be known through an investigation of which the ACC is currently embarked on. He said, the subject matter of the investigation is the possession of the cars that worth millions of Leones, disclosing that, the cars are still with the ACC.

“The cars are not confiscated to be used by the ACC or otherwise but to help in the investigation and if after every findings and the gifts are proven to be corrupt free, then Mr. Kaikai would be handed his cars again” Blake emphasized.
