 Madam Kumba Alice Momoh said China was a true friend and partner to Sierra Leone especially in time of need and pointed out that the China was the first country to come to the aid of Sierra Leone, during the defeated Ebola outbreak including the recent flood and mudslide disaster that killed hundreds of innocent Sierra Leoneans.

She recalled a fruitful meeting held with China’s ministry of foreign affairs officials who requested her to convey condolence messages on behalf of the   Chinese government and its people, stating that ministry officials appreciated the fact that the president of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma had always consoling China in time of sorrow and distress.

Madam Kumba Alice Momoh further thanked the government of China donating the sum of one million United States dollars, and also the Chinese Red Cross which provided one hundred thousand United States dollars to mudslide and flood victims.

“We appreciate the genuine effort of the China railway seventh Group, the China friendship hospital and other Chinese investors in Sierra Leone for their supports and commitment towards the country’s development aspirations,” she added.

Madam Momoh admonished young people to further their academic pursuits, as the young people have a great role to play in development in the socio economic development of their country, noting that August 14 mudslide and flood flash killed more than four hundred people with an estimated six hundred still missing.
