Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh has convened an Energy Task Force Status Meeting where issues of critical relevance to the country’s energy mix were raised and discussed with a view to sustaining the gains and improving service delivery.

Dr. Sengeh said the tasks which stakeholders in the sector are confronted with are arduous but not insurmountable. He called on all to maximise professional, technical and administrative efforts to help President Julius Maada Bio realise his overall policy objective in the energy sector.

The meeting dealt with issues including but not limited to an update on the engagement with Karpowership in Istanbul, a follow up on actions from the last ETF meeting, administrative and operational updates from EDSA and EGTC, update on EDSA’s revenue generation and mobilisation, recap from the last status meeting with the President, update on ongoing energy projects and updates on financial and technical operational reviews.

Briefing the Chief Minister on matters of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact negotiations in the United States of America, Deputy Energy Minister I, Dr. Eldred Taylor, described the delegation’s trip as successful, adding that while in the United States, the delegation discharged its mandate conscientiously and diligently.

He provided a full report on the outcome of the visit and the signing ceremony while also assuring that the Compact, when fully implemented, would be nothing short of a game changer in the energy sector.

With the energy sector and the Feed Salone agenda being inextricably linked, reforms continue in the sector.
