The Africell Impact Foundation has capacitated and certified twelve young individuals selected from universities and schools across the country after they have completed a three-month training program on Web Design, the event took place last week at the Africell Headquarters Office in Wilberforce, Freetown.

Kamada Koroma, Head of Digital and Marketing stated as the world is becoming increasingly digital these individuals had over the past twelve weeks learned web design skills that were vital. He noted that web design nowadays is not about creating visually appealing websites, instead is about creating an online experience, seamless that is seamless and user-friendly

Kippy Debs, the Customer Relations Director, provided a comprehensive insight into the Africell Impact Foundation, highlighting its establishment in 2022 and the company’s unwavering commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

The foundation was established to maximize social benefits in Sierra Leone and the areas it operates. Since its inception, the foundation has engaged more than 600 employees and artists, and have successfully executed 120 projects across eight countries. Presently, their impactful work has reached over one thousand students.

Joe Abass Bangura, the Head of Corporate Affairs, emphasized the pivotal role of Design in the lives of young individuals. In the past, businesses were predominantly conducted in a clustered geographical area, with the emergence and progression of technology, marketing strategies have undergone a significant transformation, with online platforms playing a crucial role.

Website design has emerged as a thriving marketplace, facilitating seamless transactions and serving as a global shop front. Consequently, the demand for skilled individuals capable of creating these websites has become imperative. Recognizing this need, Africell Telecommunications Company has taken the initiative to train young people to acquire the universally marketable skill of website creation.

The foundation received 500 applications, out of which 200 were meticulously shortlisted for further consideration. Subsequently, a rigorous interview process ensued, wherein 100 candidates were carefully assessed. Ultimately, a mere twenty exceptional individuals were chosen to embark on the course.

However, a mere sixteen of them showed up, and remarkably, only twelve successfully persevered and completed the program. He expressed profound admiration for the graduates’ unwavering passion and acknowledged the invaluable significance of the knowledge they had acquired, recognizing its enduring impact on their future endeavors.

The possibilities for website design are boundless, particularly in terms of coding proficiency, program writing, and the creation of diverse tools that serve as solutions for online platforms.

Moreover, the company has organized a comprehensive training program for Njala University and strongly advised the institution to incorporate Website Design into its curriculum.

The foundation was established on three pillars, Education Entrepreneurship, Arts Cultural Heritage, and Health Sports and Wellbeing.

She highlighted their notable accomplishments, such as successfully concluding a comprehensive Digital Marketing Class, enhancing Microsoft Excel Office training for their personnel, and most recently, collaborating with the London School of Economics. These endeavors serve as the bedrock of their mission to effect transformative change in people’s lives.

The Impact Foundation transcends Africell, focusing on individuals and amplifying their efforts while enriching communities through tangible actions. The foundation commends the graduates, expressing anticipation for witnessing further application of their acquired skills, and extends a heartfelt commitment to supporting their future endeavors.

The graduates expressed their gratitude to the foundation for providing them with contemporary training, which they acknowledged as a significant contribution to their upliftment and empowerment. They pledged to judiciously apply the knowledge they have gained.
