Freetown Terminal, Sierra Leone/Africa Global Logistics has officially commemorated this year’s International Labour Day at the Freetown Terminal under the theme, “Every Day Makes a Difference,” in recognition of the dedication and sacrifices of workers.
The ceremony brought together company officials, labour representatives, and staff in what organizers described as a symbolic occasion highlighting the critical role employees play in the company’s success and the wider logistics sector across Africa.
Speaking during the event, General Manager MarounAbi Aad expressed appreciation to employees for their hard work, commitment, and professionalism.
“Labour Day is not just a day off, it is a day to recognize your contributions and celebrate the value of honest work,” he stated, noting that the company’s achievements are driven by the daily efforts of workers, both seen and unseen.
The General Manager further applauded employees for their resilience and sacrifices, emphasizing that every milestone achieved by the company reflects the dedication of its workforce.
President of the Sierra Leone Dock Workers’ Union, Ferdinand Valentine, also addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of recognizing workers and protecting labour rights.
Regional Director Captain Fabjan Kokan encouraged stronger collaboration among employees, while distinguished speakers from key labour institutions discussed the evolving role of labour in Sierra Leone’s economic development.
Beyond the celebrations, the event served as a platform for reflection, learning, and engagement, reaffirming AGL Sierra Leone’s commitment to promoting dignity, respect, opportunity, and employee welfare in the workplace.
The ceremony concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, reinforcing the message that every achievement is made possible through the dedication of hardworking individuals.
