Chairman Kandeh Yumkella of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security (PI-CREF) have welcomed Ambassador Manuel Müller, European Union Delegation Ambassador to Sierra Leone to his State House office.

During their bilateral meeting, both discussed areas of mutual interest that align with their work portfolios including energy issues particularly the challenges associated with the design and development of minigrids in the country.

Ambassador Mueller underscored some of the bottlenecks that have stalled projects. They both agreed that much more need to be done to ensure real solutions that benefit both the communities and the developers.

Chairman Yumkella took the opportunity to provide an overview of PI-CREF’s operations over the last six months since its inception, leading the organization of the national dialogue on climate resilience, supporting the President’s office, and the work his team has put into developing the initiative‘s strategic plan which will showcase what PI-CREF does, how it will work with other relevant MDAs to ensure policy coherence, integrated approaches, monitoring, promoting partnerships and investments etc.

Accompanying Ambassador Müller on the EU side was Pierre Trellu, Programme Officer, while Pete Kaindaneh, Chief Technical Adviser and Anthony Kamara, Director of Partnerships, Communications and Outreach represented PI-CREF.
