Ambassador Sheku Foryor, founder of the Youth and Children’s Advocacy Panel (YACAP), has long been recognised for his unwavering commitment to youth development and his active service within the All People’s Congress (APC) party. As he expresses interest in running for the position of Diaspora Young Congress Leader, his track record highlights both political engagement and community impact.
Sheku played a pivotal role in establishing the APC Cyprus Chapter in 2022, serving as one of its founding members and helping shape the chapter’s early development. In 2023, he contributed significantly to Dr. Samura Kamara’s fundraising team, leveraging his expertise to promote the APC manifesto and spotlight the party’s focus on youth empowerment.
Within the Diaspora Young Congress, Sheku has also demonstrated strong leadership, chairing committees for key Dinner and Fundraising events. Notably, he spearheaded efforts for the 1st and 3rd editions, ensuring their success and further cementing his reputation as a dedicated and driven party member.
Born and raised in Sierra Leone, Sheku has dedicated much of his life to improving the lives of young people. In 2015, he founded YACAP, a non-profit organization focused on youth and children’s advocacy. YACAP provides educational resources, vocational training, mentoring, and leadership development programs to empower young people to become active contributors to their communities.
The organization also runs the National Youth Summit, which addresses pressing challenges such as limited access to education, youth unemployment, early marriage, and gender-based violence. YACAP’s programs aim to create opportunities for young people to develop skills, leadership capacity, and a sense of civic responsibility.
Sheku’s motivation for founding YACAP stems from his experiences as President of the Children’s Forum Network Eastern Branch under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender, and Children’s Affairs. Witnessing the challenges faced by children and young people firsthand inspired him to create programs that foster safer, more prosperous communities.
Through his political and social work, Sheku Foryor has consistently demonstrated his passion for youth empowerment and commitment to the APC vision. His efforts have earned him recognition both within the party and among Sierra Leone’s youth, making him a respected figure in the Diaspora and at home.
With his continued leadership and dedication, Sheku remains a prominent advocate for creating positive change, empowering young people, and advancing the APC’s mission, leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
