Actively partaking in the discussion of the presidential address delivered by President Julius Maada Bio at the State Opening of the First Session of the Fifth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone, Hon. Timbo said: “We in the APC started the free education at primary school to junior secondary and even cleaned up ghost teachers. So this is not new in the New Direction.”

He went on to say it was his party, the APC that increased the budgetary allocation of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MEST) which the SLPP will now continue implementation on.

However, the APC MP described the SLPP free education flagship project as a step in the right direction, while expressing hope that the government will do more to improve the sector.

Hon. Timbo stressed on the need for government to put priority in addressing the country’s energy sector while also encouraging President Bio to prioritize private sector investment in the country.
