One of the leading aspirants for the flagbearer position in the All People’s Congress (APC) Party, Dr. Ibrahim Bangura, has called on members and supporters of the Party and those of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) not to see each other as enemies but as partners in development.
He said Sierra Leone can only move forward if its two major political parties work in the national interest, adding, “We must see ourselves as brothers and sisters, not adversaries”.
Dr. Ibrahim Bangura called for peace and unity, appealing to both rival APC candidates and SLPP members. He reminded everyone that party labels are secondary to a shared national identity, stating, “Regardless of our party affiliations, we are first Sierra Leoneans. So, why the hate speech? Why the fights?”
Dr. Bangura urged citizens to overcome divisions and embrace love, unity, and positive change. His simple but powerful message called for respectful dialogue and cooperation across political lines, emphasising the importance of putting the country’s well-being ahead of partisan conflict.
