It has become an alarming situation to note that commercial vehicle registration number ADO 058 with passengers onboard was attacked at Bass Street in Brook Fields, Freetown, around Josben in the mid-night with the intent of ransacking properties belonging to the passengers onboard the vehicle when a mobile phone was forcefully taken from one of the passengers before the driver succeed to escape the attackers with the vehicle and the passengers onboard.

But however, one suspect was arrested around the scene of crime though, he denied the allegation.

It an existing fact that elections are on the countdown to approach come 2018, but if incidents of such nature have started re-occurring in various communities around the city, then it warrants relevance for the appropriate authorities responsible for the enforcement of law and order to reinforce their Standard Operating Procedure with regards to their efforts in combating organized crimes of such nature.

It could be recalled that, the Internal Affairs Minister, Rtd. Major Paolo Conteh in his relentless fight against gang actions within the city that it was timely and successful when members of the public started realizing sanity in the safety and security of their lives and properties as a result of the crackdown on young street gangs. But with inconsistency due to interference, affiliate compromise, improper planning for sustainability, encompassed with corrupt practices has undermined the entire operation in the fight against gang actions. Then who should be blamed? considering the gangs, the parents, human right activists, orders from above and the law enforcing agencies.

The fact is that, it has been proved by the security agencies responsible for law and orders that whenever they are ready to deter the actions and grouping of gangs within the country they usually succeed, the only problem has to do with sustainability of the operations.

This Government on behalf of the people kindly requested to ensure that the lives and properties of its citizen are defended and secured at all times. Because security threats are on the increase as armed robbers and gangs are frequently causing lot of problems in different areas within the city and its outskirts.
